NEW PROPOSED STATE ARTS STANDARDS READY FOR REVIEW AND FEEDBACK |
Dance Educators,
The new proposed arts standards are ready for review! We encourage you to have a look and provide feedback. PADEO will plan to have a representative at the meeting(s). You are also welcome to share this information with colleagues and other arts educators.
Over the past year a committee of arts educators from across 5 disciplines (art, dance, digital media, music, and theatre) representing K-12 and post-secondary education gathered to update standards for the arts. Dance educators, including members of PADEO served on this committee.
There are two public hearings scheduled. A public hearing will be held on August 4, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Penn State Greater Allegheny, 4000 University Dr., McKeesport, PA 15132. A second public hearing will be held on September 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, 2 West Lafayette Street, Norristown, PA 19401. The proceedings for both hearings also will be accessible through a virtual Zoom meeting location.
Details on how to register to provide testimony to the committee are included in the attached Chapter 4 Hearing Notice and can be viewed online on the Board’s website. The proposed Arts Standards are also attached or can be viewed online. In addition to accepting testimony at its public hearings, the Committee also invites comments from stakeholders in writing. Additional details on how to submit written comments are included at the end of the hearing notice.
